older mesa dual/triple rectifier footswicth?

why does Mesa say not to use a Mesa rectifier 1 button footswitch for any other tube amp.What's the beef

i have no clue, it is the same as all the other footswitches, i have had two channel rec's and never once did i have a rec footswitch, just used marshall or other...

Yeah my marshalls switch is dead butI have my old guitarists footswitch from his triple rec that got stolen in my basement so I was thinking of just using that but for some reason Mesa have only use for rectifier? what do you think marketing sceem

I don't think its a scam, I think it is more of the fact that they want you to use Mesa authorized products. This way they can cover their ass if somehow some idiot plugs something they're not supposed to into the footswitch jack and says "Well, I thought it would work and the manual doesn't say not to use other footswitches!" and then demands that Mesa covers the repair.
