Does anyone know what the difference between the 830/50 and the 840/50 poweramp is?

The 830 is currently discontinued. Has a Presence A/B selector for both channels
The 840 is currently available. Has a Presence A/B selector as well as a Volume A/B selector for both channels.

Sorry about the delayed response...

Basically you can set two master volumes and footswitch between them... So you can have one volume at like 12:00 and the other one at 10:00 and drop your volume level during 'quiet parts' or even if you wanted to have one volume be your gigging volume and the other one be dead quiet so you can basically 'mute' yourself between songs.

I saw Andy Timmons playing ADA MP1/Engl Power amp setting at NAMM show 10years ago and he sounded very good.
