  • Johnson Amp JM-150 opinions?

I may have a line on a JM-150 for a very good price. Kicker is that it is a couple of hours away from me...Does anyone played (or have played) through one of these?
I dig real distorted/high-gain-type tones (ala Matthias Jabs, pantera, etc..)

Does anyone have an opinion of this amp?

    thanks,

    Dan

I had a Marquis 60 and it sounded great at home. Just don't expect it to hold its own with a loud drummer live or another guitarist with a tube amp. Great patches. Great distortion models and an outstanding Eric Johnson patch.

I think Crankdaddy has one, maybe he'll chime in...

I have a JM-150 combo. I bought it used about 3 years ago. Fantastic amp. The clean tones are just great. The only problem is the encoders have a tendency to go bad. The gain encoder on mine occasionally jumps around. Apparently it is a fairly common problem. I contacted a service center about getting it repaired. They can fix it but I didn't get an estimate yet. Is it a combo or a head?
