  • Y Cord

So I am looking at a Y cord by Horizon with 2 female connectors and one a male.

I am meeting a friend out of town this summer and he is bringing his practice amp and we both are bringing guitars.

Does anyone know if you can use a Y cord to connect 2 guitars into the same input of an amp?

Yes you can, but the volume on each guitar will turn the other one off as well...

basically if you both play the same chords one guitar will cancel the other out.

My first instructor used to use this setup in the lesson room he was in. Basicly, two things happen:

          1) The volume knob on one guitar will effect the other as well.
          2) The tonal properties of both instruments will blend together into one hybrid tone. I remember bringing in my LP, and wondering why it sounded so thin. Meanwhile, my instructor's RG sounded beefier than it ever had!
