Fritz - what do you think of the GT-8? I've got a GT-3 now, and am thinking of upgrading.

Pat, I liked it alot more than the PODxt Live. It has more options and is better built. I used both direct into the PA at church and I liked my sounds much more with the GT-8. I even used a coupla factory presets with the GT-8. I would never use any of the Line6 presets on the PODxt Live.

I haven't played any of the other Boss GT series, so I don't know how much of an upgrade it would be from the GT-3 to the GT-8.

I had a H&K ZenTerra once, and I honestly think the tone smoked anything Line6 made up to the HD147.

Lets see:
Spider 1
Flextone 1
Flextone 2xl
Johnson Marquis 60
Behringer V-amp2
Pod
Flextone 2 HD
Vetta 2
Boss GT-6
Korg AX1500G
Pandora PX-3
Roland Cube 30
Art SGX2000 (I guess you could call it a modeler)
Spider 2
Zoom Fire
I have also had almost every model that Digitech ever made up to 1998.
The Boss GT-6 KILLED. The GT-8 must be awesome.

JG, we both forgot to list that Crate that you traded to me: DXJ something or other.

Re: Who here has owned the most modeling stuff?

Oh yea... The infamous DXJ212 (or was it a 1 x 12?). That amp was pretty friggin cool for what it was. Fritz my friend.. I do believe we have covered all the bases regarding modeling! I guess its time to start writing the book.
Out of all of them I probably had more fun with the Cube 30.

Thanks Fritz!

Yeah, I'd agree about "live" tone. The Line6 stuff sounds great in a bedroom or even at medium volumes. But, to my ear, the Boss GTs just seem way better at band or practice setting volumes.

The differences from a GT-3 to GT-8 don't seem huge to me. Not sure I'll make the jump. But I've always wanted to toy around more with going stereo into seperate amps. My GT-3 always sounded killer the couple of times I've done that. Panning delays L-and-R, etc. And, IIRC, the GT-8 allows you to split two seperate amp models when outputting in stereo. That's GOT to sound awesome. JG, I would probably agree with you about the Roland Cubes. They are fun and sound pretty darn good.

Pat, the 2-amps-at-once on the GT-8 is worth the price of admission to me. That thing is really what the PODxt Live should have been: A Vetta in a Pedalboard.

My rankings on all the stuff I owned:

1. Vetta II
2. Vox AD60VTX
3. Boss GT-8
4. HD-147
5. Roland Cube

Re: Who here has owned the most modeling stuff?

i currently use: vteea 1 upgraded to vetta 2 specs

i've owned the following:
flextone 1
flextone 2
spider 1
hd147
pod v1
pod v2.0
boss me 8
boss me 30
boss gt6
digitech rp1
digitech rp10
roland cube 30

out of all my old stuff, i liked the hd147 the best, followed by the gt6. the digitech rp1 didn;t sound that great but had like 1000 very odd effects that could be interesting in a very limited use.

i don;t think the tech 21 stuff are modellers.
if they are you can add teh tri a.c., the xxl, the double drive and the tm60 to my list. the tri ac was a great little pedal.
