that dude changes amps more often than people change their underpants..

      UNDRPANTS....that sounds funny...

I talk to that silly bastage for a while...I was the one who told him about the Uber...I just got mine at the time..and the next time he saw me (BW & BK show) ..he rememebered us talking about it...and then he got one...at that time he loved it wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than his Engl...well that's what he said.. Well, last month he was really loving the Splawn and the ENGL, and was unsure about the XTC. He didn't mention the Uber at all.

We had the Rockerverb the same time we had a Soldano Decatone...they kinda reminded me of eachother but the Orange was a little darker sounding to me.

I was checking out the orange website and the 100 version you can switch between output tubes,(6l6, el34,kt88,6550..) however the 50 you can only use 4-6v6's.

Funny, because he didn't really mention the Diezels, either, which is what he was playing when Seven Witches opened up for King's X at Jaxx back in October.

Then, he was playing Diezel Herberts through Bogner 4x12s. He said he loved the amps, but hated the cabs, so he kept the Bogners. He was phasing out the GMPs and starting to play custom guitars called K Loud, by a local builder here in the Northern Virginia area (many will know him as Will from Kilfast).

He told me it was his best guitar tone EVER. Then again, how many times has he said that? The next time I saw him, it was BC Rich and Splawn.

Not sure. They have a great overdrive with a lot of clarity... kinda like a blend between an SLO and a VHT with the attack of a mark series boogie. However, I haven't looked into them because the things look like shit. I hate to be that visually snobbish, but I have always hated how orange amps look. They make the old Crate amps look good by comparison.

Cool. I've always kinda liked how the Orange amps looked for some reason. I like the colored Matamps, too.

and FUCK sound clips...that doesn't mean a fucking thing in my book....

to really know what a amp sounds like you MUST be up close and personal with the fucker...you have to play it to judge it....not a fucking stupid sound bite of a bad recording , settings and or playing...a DUH!!!!!

                  [/ QUOTE ]

Yep. I've never felt the love for sound clips.

That's funny...after he was done with Jackson he did Gibsonm, then KXK for a while (short while), then GMP, then last (at NAMM in Jan) it was BC Rich...they were making him a custom....now who knows...

Also he was always raving about his Engl's...when I saw him play when he was in town he had a great sound, so that's what made me pickup my Fireball years ago...
It's funny cause I mentioned the Bogner's (Uber to be exact) and he said they were shit compared to his Fireball's. He usually only didn't play the Engl's when he had to rent equip. on the road...then he's get whatever they had...Bogner etc....

My thing was I mainly only play heavy shit...so I don't need 3-4 channels...I usually never play clean...if I do I play through my rack. So for me the only 2 choices I've had were the Fireball or the Uber...I like the Uber's tone, and I love my Fireball...the Bogner is twice the price of the Fireball, so for me the decision was obvious...unless the Uber totally blew the Fireball away or I found one for $1200 would I consider one.

Re: Uberschall the good bad and ugly

Amen to the sound clip thing....

I owned an uberschall for about 8 months, but I just couldnt get it to cut through the mix in my (2 guitar) metal band without losing tone. When it was just me and my band, the sound was awesome. The other guitarist uses a dual rec and I just didnt care for how the uber sounded in the mix. They werent complementary and I play with a lot of mids already and him next to none. I tried an EQ in the loop and that did improve things, but I just couldnt justify a $3000 amp needing help to sound good.

I have also owned an XTC classic, and that is definitely not a metal amp. IMO its got plenty of gain, just not enough tight bass

Ever since I bought a Fireball I have been extremely happy. I dont really need or want versatility, just a crushing metal tone that cuts

Actually GMP came before KXK. As of last month he was still with BC Rich, and seemed really happy with them.

Yeah, for someone that isn't all that amazing of a player, he sure gets a lot of equipment handed to him him. I've always found that interesting... Hehe... Jack is truly a nice guy though, and that does go a long way.
