this ist the cleanes cleanamp you can get
i don't know if you can use it for metal using an extrenal distortion, but i don't think that the the built in distortion suits the metal-style

Re: Need your opinion about Roland JC-120
I dunno, I think it's still in the hands and such. I played in a rock (not metal) band with a guy that got a great tone out of his. He had a couple nice pedals and he could play.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Re: Need your opinion about Roland JC-120
Vito Bratta of White Lion used his prior to the ADA MP-1 along with his 100 watt Marshall's.
If you're looking for over the top death metal type sounds, this isn't the amp for you, but for a good rock tone, I think they will work fine.
They are also not that expensive from E-Bay and usually available.

The main reason for my NO answer is this. With all the great rock/metal amps available, why choose a JC120?
[/ QUOTE ]
I couldn't have said it better myself, John!! The JC-120's are at around $900 new, for that price you could easily get a great head (check some of jgcable's recent reviews, he's reviewed some great reasonably priced heads recently) plus a Marshall 1960A or 1960B cab without exceeding that.
If you get the JC-120 you will need either some pedals or an effect unit to get a reasonable sounding distortion, but you could spend less and grab an excellent head / cab that will sound better for metal.

Re: Need your opinion about Roland JC-120
mmmmm, That's a good question why I'm talking about JC-120!
well the reason is that in my country I found only AVT50(marshall) and this one(with price less than 600$)! stupid huh!
That guy is giving a good price for JC-120 that is less than 600$ however it doesn't have foot switches

Re: Need your opinion about Roland JC-120
Marshal is active here, but prices will increase to 900$ and would be expensive for me! but around 600$ JC-120 and AVT50 are available and rest is Marshall MG series that is made in India

Re: Need your opinion about Roland JC-120
I use Roland JC120s all the time. I've used them for about 20 years. I play Slayer through them all the time. They are the perfect portable poweramp/speaker system. Just plug your rack thru the bitch, and it wont color your sound at all, just perfect tone from the preamp............Why use anything else?.............

I also have Boss MT-2 and some cheap multi effects like Zoom 707II! What do you think I can get with JC-120 if I put some of them before the JC-120?
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I was in GC about 6 months ago trying out a bunch of Boss pedals that were running through a JC (can't remember if it was the 90 or 120 but same sound). The lower-distortion ones (SD-1 and DS-1) didn't work too well but the MT-2 sounded good to me. That should work.Unleash the fury.....Texas style!
