  • My Randall is sick, possibly dying :(

I don't know what's wrong with this thing, but I plugged it in yesterday, and hooked up my friend's sonic maximizer. The amp sort of phases in and out, with the volume level ranging from full volume, down to almost nothing, and then back up again. It's definitely not the maximizer, because It worked fine with the B52. FUCK!
    Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

Uh, does the amp go back to normal without the BBE?

What Keith said. Take EVERYTHING off the amp except for your guitar going into the input and the amp plugged into the cabinet.

Maybe dirty jacks in the effects loop? That will cause what you're describing to happen.
Spray some contact cleaner into those jacks and then plug and unplug a cord into each several times to clean the little switches.

I wouldn't spray contact cleaner directly into the jack. Contact cleaner is some pretty caustic stuff, and jacks aren't closed backed, so you'd be spraying the cleaner right onto the guts of your amp. I would put some contact cleaner on a Q-Tip and rub it on the contacts and then roll up a small piece of 400 grit sandpaper into a barrel shape and spin that in there to clean the connections.

Usually the dirty jacks in the fx loop cause the problem when there is NOTHING plugged in, not when items are plugged in. Still is a place to check though.
