That would be great! I'm looking for the same as you were.Though,I don't care about the clean channel so much ! I would like to get a 5150 combo, but they're expensive and rare around here(Southern Indiana)!! I would like to know how the distortion on it sounds!

Line 6?????????????? fuck them, Marshall is the only way to go.

          [/ QUOTE ]

Have you played a marshall latley? Sad thing is the Line 6 does a great marshall and then a million other tones. Oh and dont give me that crap about how the line 6 will never compare to a tube amp, only about 10% of musicians would truley no the difference and the difference is so minor that your audience would never even know.

Line 6 gets bad raps from tube purists who think if it doesnt have a little shinny thing that glows and needs to be replaced then it is crap! Tubes only BIG advanage is at high volumes the power section sounds warmer and better, but with line 6 and enough wattage on the output power you never have to worry about that problem.

Each kinda of amp (tube or solid state) has there own little advantages over the other, but i tell you, in another ten years i bet you will see more amps like line 6 on stage then you will pure tube amps. Everyday line 6 come closer to perfecting there sounds.

And i dont know about where you play, but pretty much everyplace i ever goto they mic the amps and actualy having a tube amp hurts you in small club situations since they get pissed at you as soon as you start to turn them up a little.

          +3 and 4 (I have a Vetta and a PODXT)

+5 through about 15 (I've had LOTS of Line 6 amps...). Well thought out response on Marshall vs. Line 6. Ever play one? Flextones SMOKE! Ever play a Marshall? The only tube 2x12 they have is the TSL - all the rest are solid state. OK amps, but they leave ALOT to desire in the way of sound these days. I've tried two DSL's as of late (thought maybe I had a bad one so I gave it another chance), and they were tone-coffins. Better off getting some kind of clean amp (Fender) and running a distortion pedal in front of it these days, or maybe a used Mesa rather than shelling out the cash required to buy a questionable quality Marshall. Oh - I do LOVE classic Marshall sounds, but they haven't done a thing for me since the JCM 800. And Marshall clean sounds? Please...

Good call on the MTS - I've got the 2x12 cab from that series and I love it

And if you wanna be a tube sissy, get a POD and an Atomic Reactor - Tube power amp + digital clones of every amp known to mankind = an ass that has been thoroughly kicked.

              Re: Tell me about a good 2x12 combo...Under $600??

              Ok...here's my review:

Cleans: Whoa! This amp has a really glassy clean sound. It can go from jazz to alternative tones easily. It's REALLY loud. The clean really cuts through the mix. Put a little 'verb in it and you're in heaven.

Distortion: NICE leads. I play metalcore. The distortion doesn't give me enough gain to sound like I want it to sound, BUT it's awesome for soloing, doing less-gainier type of rhythms and stuff like that. I can nail a Godsmack tone out of it really easily. It's basically a cross between a Marshall and a Mesa.

Ok, so now here's my final thoughts...You tell me if this is normal. When I play I hear the amp's tubes moving around. The sound comes out of the speakers real loudly. BUT, the amp itself needs some new tubes, but I don't think it has anything to do with that. I mean, they just move around in there. Is this normal?

Yeah. Like whenever our bass player plays even if I'm not playing it sounds like glass moving around.

Try moving the head away from the cabinet, or if it's a combo, move it away from the bassist or put it on something to get it off the floor.

Other than that, I don't know if you can get little spacers to keep the tubes from vibrating. I wouldn't put anything like foam, rubber, or cloth in there to muffle the sound.

Try turning the reverb down. If you retube it make sure you call Bob at Eurotubes and tell him what sound you are looking for. He has full retube kits for the MTS that will pretty much give you any type of gain or tone you are looking for.
