• BBE Sonic Maximizer...on a home stereo?

I've read about people using BBEs with their home stereos, and one day discovered that my Aiwa bookshelf system has a BBE option. I started messing with it on some rather "rough" CDs and was blown away with how much better they sound with the BBE turned on.

Is this becoming relatively common, or exclusive to certain manufacturers? I can't get over how good this stereo sounds after pushing one little button.

Nope, even the rackmount stereo BBEs kick butt on home stereos. I think BBEs work best on those and in PA racks... they give a nice clarity and warmth if set properly.

      yeah what Pete said..

I never used mine on my stereo...

I had a friend that installed "car" stereos and they made units with BBEs built in...I remember that...and that was a while ago..I was surprised to see that inside his trunk...and he's not a musician or anything like that....just a normal dude.

I have a car stereo that I traded my Rocktron Intellifex for with some guy at work, back in December. It has a BBE thing but I still havent put it in yet.

BBE licenses out the technology to Sony, AIWA and other manufacturers, and they in turn put it into stereos and theater systems...

I used the BBE software plugin for mixdown on Sony Soundforge, and it was outstanding for that purpose...

Not a fan of it on guitar rigs much anymore though...

I have the software version. I have to admit, everytime I master something in WaveLab, I end up running the file through the BBE. Just sounds so much better.

When I bought my BBE 422A for my rack I ended up hooking up the BBE 462 (that I was using in the rack) to my home stereo...I've been using it there ever since...it's really adds alot. It's been a few years now.

Agreed. I used to work with another guitar player who ran his rig thru one and it just made his guitar sound all processed and artificial.
