I need a recommendation on a good distortion pedal

I started to look for a distortion pedal not so long ago
and i dont know where to start

i need a reliable ,versatile and high gain distortion
I prefer Tube distortion

any recommendations for a good distortion?

Look at the Mesa Boogie Bottlerocket.
Also the V-Twin
There aren't many distortion pedals that are tube driven.

Butler Tube Driver is another tube driven pedal and one that Eric Johnson uses. You may not actually need a tube driven distortion/overdrive pedal. Really what these pedals do is add some distortion, but most just additional gain to push you amp harder. You can check out the Keeley modded Ratts, Tube Screamers or Boss pedals. He makes those classic pedals sound 100 % better. Also his boost pedals work great. I run a Keeley Katana Boost in front of my Marshall clone and it sounds amazing.

SD-1 works great for me.

SD-1 + JCM 800 = Amazing tone.

It might be old news now...but the Chandler Tube Driver and Real Tube always worked well for me back in the day.

Maxon ROD-881. Pretty much an Ibanez Tubeking with an Ibanez Tubeking on steroids option.

Akai is sort of a dirty word around here, but they made a pedal with tube and solid state distortion modes. I tried one out a few years back, and it was OK, but being of the opinion that a solid state preamp into a tube power amp gives a better tone than the other way around, I've stuck with my ART Xtreme distortion pedal. The old Korg HyperDistortion was another good one.

The Akai I mentioned was called the Shred-O-Matic as I recall.

ive played with a mesa boogie V-twin, and it sounds fuckin awesome. you can put in front of an amp, or play it direct into a computer, or hooked up to a power amp and use it as a pre-amp. it smokes.
