  • Marshall JMP 100

    Got my Marshall today.
It works 100% and does everything it's supposed to. I just...don't like it for some reason.
    Gawd, I HATE amps!
I guess I need another SLO...

This will be for sale very soon.

    Chuck......
I told you you needed a SLO100... I know they are expensive though..
Hold on to that JMP for a month.
I'd buy it off your hand and send her to John Suhr.

        Re: Marshall JMP 100

Yup, I liked the VHT better.
The VHT was a little...bland, though. Kinda soul-less. But it really didn't do anything wrong, so in hindsight, that should have been a tip off, cause I hate amps!
Sully put it right, "They are a necessary evil". Damn Straight.

Toru, with my current financial picture, an SLO is not gonna happen. Promise.

How much would a Cameron or Suhr mod be? What are the options?

          Re: Marshall JMP 100

Suhr mod would cost maybe $500 and up.
You can get many option such as extra gain, boost, effect loops,Depth knob, 2CH switching and so on.
From what I have been seeing you Chuck, you simply need a Soldano back.

                Holy Fukkin Crack Smokin Grannies!

Two HUGE changes: Some known good sounding pre-amp tubes (two EH's and a sweet Chinese 12AX7 with a Marshall logo I stole from Mark!), and exchanging the tube Screamer for my Boss SD-1.

                K, I'm a mrorn...I get it now!

                  Two questions Chuck:

                  1. Do you need a hotplate to play the amp at reasonable volume levels?

                  2. How do you like the amps tone for soloing?

                    Re: Marshall JMP 100

                    1: Highly recommended.

2: Love it, with the right guitar. My sunburst Charvel with a JB don't sound so hot, but my Mongrel with it's Custom kills. Night and day difference.

Hey Toru, I beleieve Suhr announced he was no longer going to be doing Marshall mods. There is a long post and explanation on HCAF about how he turned 50yrs and has so much other stuff going that he will no longer be in the Marshall mod business.

Tommy - is that true or are you just jivein'?

                        John, is that true??
If so I'd have to buy a Bogner then....
I had a OD100 but I had hard time dialing my sound in.
When I wanted to use the boost on the second CH,I havd to set the gain very low but then when the boost was off, it sounded bit weak.
                        I couldn't get what I really wanted.
John Said he can adjust the boost bit low though.
Maybe I will have to go with that and see what John can do with it...

i know mark cameron very well, as he used to do his early mods on my heads back in the mid '90's when he worked out of my very good friends store. i've been trying to get a hold of him this week. any help will be appreciated. it was really cool seeing him just explode in popularity out of nowhere, i was real happy for him.

what year is that? i own a 1979 JMP 50w that looks just like that (a pic is in the effects thread if your curious). i hardly use it though...my other amps get far more use. it just doesn't have big enough balls for my style lol. these amps only sound good (to me) with the pre on 10 and the master cranked to ear bleed "stadium" levels. a hot plate or similar is a must to get good sounds from them i've come to realize. unless you play at gig volume often in the house hehe. but i'll never sell mine it's got family history and was my brothers first amp then my first amp.
