Re: Digitech GNX3 or VOX TonelabSE?

I have owned a GNX3, a Boss GT-8, PODXT Live and the Vox Valvetronix AD60VTX (based on the Tonelab). Here is my take.

Vox-Great sounding amp models, pretty good effects, pretty good presets, easiest to dial in. Does everything but gnu-metal.

PODxt Live-models not as good as Vox, effects marginally better than Vox, presets are terrible, easy to use but you MUST dial it in properly. High gain and clean sounds are very good. Mid-gain and crunch are so-so.

GNX3-get this one only if you will use the recorder and drum machine. Otherwise, nowhere near as good as the others. 'nuff said.

GT-8-models are almost as good as the Vox, effects are the best of the 4, some presets are outstanding (and some are ridiculous), extremely versatile but the hardest to use. Does all styles very well.

If you are looking for good sounds just to use with headphones, get a V-amp2 for <$100. If you are going to play live thru a PA with it now but use an amp later, get the Vox. If you just want it for the effects, get the Boss. If you want a good one that does everything pretty well, get the PODxt Live. If you think that you will keep it and use it for a long time, get the Boss. That thing has so many options. It is a Vetta in a pedal.
