  • can shredded tolex be fixed/repaired?

I have a shot at a decently priced Mk III combo (red stripe), but the tolex covering is just torn to shreds. Are there any resonable options to doing something about that? I'm not terribly anal about the looks of the amp, but this particular one just looks bad. It's going to sit in my living room often, so I don't want to just cover it with electrical tape ;-)
    thanks!

All you can really do is glue down the loose flaps with contact cement. If there are chunks missing, you can paint the wood underneath to match to tolex so it's not as noticable.

The other option is to re-cover it. It wouldn't cost you more than $25 in tolex, and contact cement.

You can actually strip all the finish off, sanf, and refinsh it. The wood they use is of marine quality, and appears to finish up nicely.
