Recommendations on powered Loudspeakers EV??

I've got a buddy looking for a nice set of powered loudspeakers. He's got a Numark mixer currently and has $1000 to spend on a set. I was thinking possibly some EV's, but I haven't done any research or really know anything about loudspeakers to give any good suggestion. Any recommendations???
