• Need Speaker Cab Recomendations

Hey everyone......Im looking into getting some new speakers, and im wondering if anyone has any experience with the less expensive companies such as behringer? I have found cabs for very cheap in comparison to marshall or mesa. I used to have a marshall 1960 A/B but I couldnt afford to pay for the lease and returned it. Im looking for two cabs preferably 2X12s but 1x12s will do. Anyway it would be great to hear good/bad stories about behringer cabs as well as any good recomendations as to what i should do. Thanks!

I saw a 4x12 Behringer live a long time ago, before I had ears to know what to listen for. From what little I remember, it played through the gig without the guy having to go over and kick it any. They played pretty loud with little help from the PA.

That's about all I can offer. If you're looking for "will it stay standing?" then probably yes. If you're looking for tone I cannot help you.

Stay away from Crates. I've gone through too many, they break easily. As for the speakers themselves, I've actually replaced the speaker of my old GX-15R practice amp with a speaker from a flea market and it souded much better! True story! On the other amps that I've seen them used with, they just didn't sound very clear at all.

Anybody got a Randall cab review?

You might also shoot for a peavey cab. The scorpions are pretty solid little speakers. Not the clearest (nor the blue marvels for that matter), but they last a long fuckin' time.

    What about Marshall MG reviews?

marshall 2x12's aint that expensive dude, they only £200 brand new over here, also depends what music you play/what kinda sound you want, mesa's are darker, more scooped sounding, where as marshall's are very middy sounding cabs. Try and find somewhere to go try some out, also what amp are you gonna be using with them?

The Behringer is allright for rehearsals, where only your band is listening. For gigging or recording save money to get at least the Marshall.
