Hence my saying, if its semi decent gear. We'll just assume that when you listen to it, you dont say to yourself, "god, this sounds like complete shit"

[/ QUOTE ]

You're saying a Fender Twin isn't decent gear?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope, I am being sarcastic. I Fender Twin is hardly the amp to bring to a death metal band for an audition.
He mentioned that most of the tone is in your fingers and that the amp isn't that important. Its kind of like using a Soldano Avenger to play early Beatles songs. Your fingers can only do so much.

Re: Crate Amps

Uggh... lets just assume for a second, that the amp you own, suits your style of music, to at least an extent. Cmon guys, this is completely overstating the obvious.

Maybe I should just keep quiet like I have been. I spose I will catch hell like this until I get some "street cred" (at around 1500 posts or so?) if I post anything questioning anyone else's opinion.

Re: Crate Amps

i had an old ss 2x12 g130c (or something like that) and i loved it. it sounded great and with biult in reverb and chorus i could play pretty much anything and it sound decent.

cannible corpse still used crate exclusively. and they sound great both on album and live (for what they are doing anyway).

Buck Dharma from B.O.C.(yeah I know I'm old.)uses Crate BV heads and cabs. His tone is very good. Check out their A long days night dvd. Sammy Hagar also uses them. I think they are a good rock amp but I don't know about a metal amp. I also played a Crate Palamino combo at GC it was awesome. I a/b'd it against a Fender Blues Jr and the Crate killed it.

All I play is metal, and it works for me. I'm into Lamb Of God and stuff like that, so I need serious crunch.

Looked it up, He's using red voodoo heads as power amps, running the pod outputs into the fx loop returns.
