• Gmajor plus Dual rectifier - good match?

Tried using my XT live for effects with the amp models turned off. Ugh. Even with everything off, it still has this comb filter/delay/woosh going on.

Soooo... I'm thinking about getting a Gmajor. I already have a midi controller. Anyone try this combination?

I have a G-Major/Single Rectifier setup and I love the combination. The channel switching feature is key. The G-Major is also a very transpartent unit. It doesn't suck the life out of the Rectifier at all. Patch switching is seemless too. I dont' think I'll ever use anything else.

G-majors can be had a little cheaper now too.

If Jim says the G-Major is the way to go I believe him.
Pete, even Mesa Boogie endorses the G-Major. They say it is the perfect effects processor for their Rectifier series.
The 2 latching relays are the key. You no longer need to use the Mesa switches. What cooler than that?

Yeah, I noticed my POD XT Live sounded like dick infront of my Mesa...I thought it was just me.

Maybe it's time to turn this fucker around, and buy a Gmajor.

how exactly does that channel switchin stuff work? I change a preset on the gmajor, and it switches my amp for me?

You program the preset to have a specific channel, so when you load up the preset, it switches to the correct channel. Insanely cool on a three channel head; Cleans with a bit of chorus and reverb, dry dirty sound, maybe a bit of verb, and a lead sound with some echo and reverb, all without tap dancing at all!

I use a G-Major with a 3Ch Triple Rec. I haven't thought about my effects since I bought it, which is the highest compliment I can pay this unit. It sounds great, does everything I ask it to - and about 10,000 other things - and has a pretty decent interface, so programming doesn't take too long, although it's not the G-Force in that area. It sounds good with the Mesa, for sure, and the noise gate even works pretty well - certainly more than good enough for live performance.

Almost all modelers sound like crap in front of a guitar amp. You need to plug it into the effects return. I sense a soon to be POD XT Live defector. I wish you could stop by to hear my GT-6 /Carvin T-100 set up. You would change your mind and keep it in a nanosecond.

So the XT Live is bunkweed for effects use only? I was thinking about getting a multi-effects unit and was going to get the XT live so I can use the modelers too...guess that idea is out the window

I have heard pretty good things about the G-Major

i've used the xt live for effects only and it worked great. you just have to set the output mode and line/amp switch properly to the right settings for the setup you are using.

and if you are using it in the fx return the make sure you are set on pwr stack output and the swtich set to line.

if its in the front - output set to front stack and switch set to amp.

then it will sound fine.

but the g-major should still sound better.

I don't know about getting rid of the POD XT live...yet...I use it for recording into my computer, and so far, it treats me good there. I feel like I'm in a studio, mixin and scratchin and shit...then I listen to my crappy guitar demo, sad sad sad.

I had it set properly, the XT had phasing/tonal issues when used for effects only.
