There are a lot more Line 6 users than most people think. Especially in the recording studio.

The cool thing is there is a software capo and you can tune your guitar and save any tuning you want.. .So without changing your tuning you can go from standard to flat to drop d with the flip of a switch

Those are some handy features. I figured it would trickle beyond their Variax stuff.

Does this mean if you use an XT live, with the workbench loaded, that you can use the alternate tuning feature with a regular (non-variax) electric guitar? That would be very handy.

I had a Roland VG-8 guitar system that had a feature that would not allow your guitar to go out of tune no matter what you did.

I've often wondered how many people record with a POD, modeling their live rig, for the sake of convienience. I know I wouldn't be against it.
Years ago I tried switching to a POD PRO as my live rig. It was like switching to decaf.

Yes .. you can save those tunings in the variax.. for instance I set up a strat body with a hum.. I added some output to the pickup and the saved 3 banks...

1) Standard tuning
2) Falt Tuning
3) Drop D tuning..

The range is 1 octave up 1 down ..

A cool trick is to save bannks 1-5 1 oct down, 5th down,standard,5th up, octave up ..

By flipping the switch you can get some cool arpegiated sounds.....

Re: Line 6

My question was if you could do this with a NON-variax guitar, just by using the workbench software.

Mike Romeo sounds great through anything!! I lived in the same town as him and took lessons from him around '86/'87. He sounded great through my old crappy plywood Kramer and little Gorilla practice amp!

When I hung out with the band, his bass player heavily agreed that Romeo sounded best with his Mesa Setup than with the Vetta. We proceeded to then make fun of him for being a modeller supporter.

I believe he commented they were "cost effective".

yeah I got a spider 2 112 and i love it the four channels are really handy, and I love the way the distortion sounds. I think in the future I might the stack version of the spider 2.

I've got a Flextone II plus 1 12 and I run it in stereo
with a marshall dsl201. so I get 80 watts and 2 twelves.
when I run them together the sound is amazing.
seperately both sound good but what the Line 6 lacks the marshall
adds back in and vice versa.
I've got the floorboard too so I get to really play around with this thing the way it was meant to.
I still prefer tube amps though
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
