Re: JSX gig review

Bill, you got a bad amp, that's it, have you tried some other rectos lately? try out, find some time to tweak, you'll be amazed.

Bill, I agree. The HD147 sounds fantastic. Really really good. Regarding your Rectifier comment. I have never heard a Mesa Rectifier I didn't like that was dialed in correctly. I have heard a ton of them that sounded like crap when not set up right though. Mesa's are touchy amps.

Dude..I don't like Rectos..not yours ..not his...theirs..mine..PERIOD!!

I don't like em in the mud...I don't like em on my pud.

Not my flavor..it's >>FUZZ<< to me..I can't dial out that FUZZ no matter what I do..

I have done everything in my power to dial out the fuzz i hear in that amp..from burning bibles to human sacrifices and speaking in tongues , and rain dances..but yet..it fuzzes..

This is a no "fuzz" zone..

Re: JSX gig review

I have dialed very "clean" heavy rhythm tone with Recto, I know that sizzle, I can make it go away And there are a lot of recordings with recto where the sound is clean as baby's butt.

Re: JSX gig review

apparently having a tubescreamer set for a clean boost in front of a recto cleans that thing right up. andy sneap does it all the time.

otherwise, bill, of course it's gonna fuzz out. i bet you had the gain on 10 like on your uber
no offense, bro

indeed a strange expression, but i know exactly what MD is talking about...i'm looking for the very same thing all the time

Me too. Like Ty Tabor's sound on the first four King's X albums. I'd give my nut for that tone.

Re: JSX gig review

Adding mids really focus the Rectos. Strangely enough, the best tone from the amp alone, (I use a boost in front of mine) is the setting Dreamland Rebel suggested... dimed mids and bass, no presence or treble, and LOTS of volume in the modern mode. Awesome punchy, articulate, crushing tone. You would think it would sound horrible set like that, but it doesn't. Rectos are very weird amps.

I think a better term would be a "clear" distortion instead of "clean" distortion. But I know what you mean - nice, thick, heavy sound but with note clarity not mud.

yeah, okay maybe "clean" wasn't the best term. i like my distortion to sustain enough to hold single notes, but allow the notes of an open Cadd9 to ring clearly. i've had that with mark series boogies, but not recto's.
