there is no "fuzz" in the uber (to my ears no matter wher the eq is set) it is very "smooth and warm" ..two different distortion qualities all together..not even close in similiarity...other than they both are flame throwers...but two totaly different kinds of flame.
no matter how you dial in either the Uber or a Recto or a 5150 or any amp..the 'character" of the distortion is there no matter what..the tone controls are there to tweak what the amp distortion gives you..and that's it...it doesn't change the character of that distortion ..you can just tweak it with EQ.
BTW ..I thought most JCM 800 cabs were loaded with 70's I knew a couple that I had did..which are are cool , they have a roll off of the edge that the 75's have and a bit warmer..John may like those better than the 75s as well.
