Re: Mesa 4x12 half back problem...

might aswell just flip for a recto cab. the "traditional" will be more like a marshall or the barhinger, and the "standard" will be the oversized recto.

the 4 v30's closed up sound great and really make a rectifier come alive.

the half backs were voiced for the older boogies. especially those c90's in the top.

you might like the closed up half back sound. but i dont' think it will sound as good as a recto cab with the single rec.

Actually he could just put the speakers in a X pattern and mic the V30's. Ask noodles, he loves that combination of both speakers, he uses two 2x12's, one with the C90's and the other with the V30's. I have an older mesa halfback with the metal grill front, i am gonna get the half back option and stick in the G12H 30 watters.

i sold my halfback for a verticle 2x12 recto. and haven't missed it at all. in fact, i think i might even prefer the sound of it to the 4x12 recto. + its a hell of a lot easier to transport.

            Two things.

1)What is the width od a 2x12 recto cab? Will my single rectifier hang over the edge? I've been thinkin about one of those.

2)Traditional 4x12 is smaller and standard is the oversize recto cab. Correct?

I'm going to close it off to begin with. The x pattern idea is interesting as well. I may try that.

Yes the single rec will hang over the side, yes the traditional is just that, normal 4x12 size, better mids then the oversized, the oversized is more geared for downtuned metal. Let me know how you like the X pattern, you can always put the C90's on the bottom and the V30's on the top as well.
