Thank you Jim..

I like Mesa Boogie MRK III , I can handle those..I just don't get along with Rectos , they just don't articulate my speed picking and the touch of my palm muting at all..

But The 5150s ceratinly do..

The Uber is like a 5150 on steroids to me..it's just insanely HEAVY..I haven't heard anything as Heavy as an Uber yet in person..but I heard good things about the Fireballs , and Avengers..

But I'm really happy to be honest.

5150 and BBE 422 could be the heaviest sounding combination I have ever owned, played or heard. Bill... I am a believer.
Holy crap. Its a budget Uber.

John, I couldn't agree more..that put's the 5150 into more of the Uber territory at a third of the cost!!!

Avenger kills em both. Bill, ya GOTTA check one out - I command it! The one I heard in direct comparison beat the hell out of a XTC, Uber, Powerball, Marshall DSL (yeah I know) and a Mark IV. For a one channel heavy tone, the Avenger IMHO is pretty hard to beat.

Bear in mind this is my opinion, and I didn't dial in the amps, and there are other variables... but I had heard the Avenger was marketed as an 'Uber killer' and in my opinion they succeeded.

Fritz Reiser here on the board had one, and a few other guys I think... they should chime in, I'd be curious as to what they thought of the Avenger's tone.

Bleh, I just typed a bit reply but I lost it because I hit backspace and it jumped back a page, so when I hopped forward it was gone..

- I agree too many clubs want the stage volume to be really quiet. When I go to shows at these clubs I always have problems with hearing both guitars clearly.
- I've played with my 5150 at volume level 1-2 so you can imagine how that sounds
- I can't wait to hear my 2204 at gigging levels since that thing is obscenely loud at .5 hahaha!
- If FedEx finds the Avenger and is able to deliver it in one piece then I'll let you guys know how it compares for modern metal.

Yeah Pete I here ya bro..I'd love to hear an Avenger..I'd Love to. I would buy it in a hearbeat if it wooped my ass!!

BUT NOBODY and I mean NOBODY dials up an Uberschall like I do..Nobody Dimes the gain..

That's the key to the Uber....but there is other elements involved so you can get the most out of it..like for example without the noise gate on my G Major..I would never be able to get away with that...even tho I did...but had to deal with all that noise.

There is a major noise level ratio ..from the gain being Maxed to backing it off just a hair..the hish and noise literally cuts in half BUT then I lose my "balls"...the noise gate ables me to do that!

and that is the ONLY way to play an Uber IMO...

It's ALL usable gain..and it has gain o plenty..I likey

How would a bbe help out a peavey vtm-60? weren't the 5150s partially based on them or something?

Diming the Uber is a mtter of taste. I could never get a good sound out of Bills Uber like that... I need cleaner more precise distortion.

Re: Live amp review... Mesa and 5150

John's right , our styles and sense of touch are very different..his amp works well for him...I could "get by" with it...but it's not where I need to be.

The one thing I don't like about the uber is when it "cleans up" when you really crank it , even when DIMED!!

Clean up?????...NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo

My Uber DIMED is close to a 5150's gain set at 6.5 - 7 ...if it remained usable and focused....yeah , that's a good comparison.

I can play the palm muted intro to "Aint Talkin' 'bout love" with my Maxed Uber and it sounds like VH on steroids...

It's perfect to me..

5150 + BBE 422 = THUNDER

This combination makes me like the 5150 so much I may never play another amp. It will be interesting to see if Jims Vetta will be able to hang with it when the going gets tough and trust me... its gonna get tough. I am one pissed off mutha--eff--a. Our band CHASE is moving into the rage, shock and awe phase. I am taking the helm. Put up or shut the fuck up. Jim is my co-captain. He's a big guy so he can handle the physical stuff. I'll just start the fights.
