My stereo setup of a Fender Metal Head and a Marshall Mode 4 will kill anything you have.

maybe.......but thats the point.....we could do this till the cows come home...to your ears...... yes....but thats why your you and I'm me.......its all subjective.
And I know you didnt pay 299.00 for a Mode 4 which is my point. To me it dont sound thousands of dollars better.
I know what kinda sound I can get out of what I own.
I own Marshall cabinets that to me are what really makes your sound. From 1970s and early 1980s
I've tried all kinds of heads with these cabinets
And to my ears 200.00 to 2,000.00 heads dont really sound that different. Also the Clean channels on the S.S amps sound better then the tube heads.
again my .02 wacky as it sounds

Wooooosh.... That's the sound of my post going right over your head. I was kidding around man. Illustrating the point you just made! Tone is subjective.
I know plenty of people that have cheap-o amps and they think they sound awesome, but at the same time to me they sound terrible. Conversely, they think my rig doesn't sound that good. Everyone will believe that their own rig sounds awesome, that's just how it works! Tone is subjective. You like Jimi Hendrix's tone, but I might like EVH's or John Smith who plays in some drop Z nu metal band. It all boils down to what tone is your ideal tone and what the application of said tone is. Your Marshalls might kill for your music, but for playing ska they might not work, or death metal or grind, or whatever!
And to clarify, I do not like the tone of the Mode Four or Fender Metalhead!
