I've always been curious. The techs at my local shop both used to work at a music store that sold them...they say they aren't the most reliable amps around.

Vader is using a FA but it's 180 watts and it's been modded by a guy in Danzig so you know. From a reliable source i know that plus the fact that only mauser has the FA - Peter still runs his old recto backstage. AFAIR Decapitated used line 6 flextone 2 not FA.

okay , i have one in my rehearsal - with that cheap ashdown cab with some odd speakers - had to play some rehearsals with that rig :/

Let's just say that isn't the best head i've played - maybe it's because of the cab (partially) but my thoughts were :

DAAAARK - way to dark for me - not mesa dark - this head has a really bassy voicing - imho it's almost only bass. , it's kinda dry even with the gain turned up, has maybe a lil' bit more gain than jcm 800.

And be careful - those old ones made in the UK ( i played one of those ) are known to be better - there is now a new series with DSP effects - my buddy played 2 combos and said that he definitely didn't like them
