Hey John, can I plug the 8ohm output in the 16ohm input of my cabinet?

I would REALLY not do that bro... Very hard on the transformers.

If the amp isn't switchable, I would have to recommend rewiring the cab. Not as bad as it sounds really...

That's actually fine to do. You just don't want to plug your amp into anything less than 8 ohms. ie
8 ohm amp into 8 or 16 ohm cab - FINE
8 ohm cab into 4 or 2 ohm cab - NO, could fry amps transformer.
            Good deals with:
            Metal Medal II, Tonyl11

I hear ya and I realize it is definitely the lesser of the impedance mismatching evils and doesn't put the load on the transformers that plugging in a 2 or 4 ohm load into it would of course.. Have I done it with no ill effect? Certainly. Technically, I guess it shouldn't bother it as it isn't as much of a load of course. The amp won't respond the way it would to a matched load though (IMO).

Would I do it generally? Not if I can really help it.

It's just that can't really "recommend" someone doing it. When it comes to offering advise, I will play by the book and I prefer Impedance mathing when pricey tube amps are involved.

Yeah; mesa even says in their manuals that an uphill impedance push is fine, but pushing too much from the amp into too small on the cab is a no-no.

IIRC you can put a 8ohm out into a 16ohm cab without any problems - my buddy is running his triamp with two cabs ( v30 h&k and a ashdown fallen angel cab v30 loaded - the second one is 16ohm's)

That is a totally acceptable mismatch according to Mesa.

Mesa also likes you to buy their tubes!!! Do you? Hehe...

Cool! Single Rec's are great, I love mine.

Eheh,ok guys, thank you all!I knew that if the load is bigger than the actual output level there should be no problem..just a lower volume.IIRC my cab should have also a 4ohm mono input...never used it though. Will it be louder using the 4ohm output?

Going up in impedance does nothing but affect your output. It doesn't do squat to the amp. Actually, it will allow you to push the amp a little harder which is always a good thing for a tube amp. Unless you gig everynight and play everyday, all day long.. don't worry about wearing out your tubes. The difference is nominal.
