Chaining effects. i have not a clue. help

Ok I have always been a rack guy and now i'm building a pedal board and am not sure what order to chain them.
In my effects loop I have 2 chorus pedals, an eq, tremolo, reverb, and a delay pedal. what order do i put them from the send on my effects loop.

also i have a 808, wah, phaser and noise supressor for the front end of the amp. what order do those go in.
It sounds like a dumb question but like I said. i have always used nothing but rack processors. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start with the wah, then the TS808, then the phaser, then the tremolo in the front. In the loop I'd put the chorus pedals, then the reverb and delay, then the eq and the noise supressor last. But try different things and see what you like best.

Typically, gain-based effects (wah, overdrive/distortion) should go in front of the amp. So go from guitar into wah, then the TS808 into amp. Time-based effects like chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, delay go in the loop (though, you can experiment and try them in front if you like them there... as that's where all the old players put them when they had amps without loops). The noise suppressor and eq can go either in the loop or in front of the amp, whatever sounds best to you.

After an A/B switch, unless it's true bypass or buffered.

You can play around with running the 808 into the wah. I do this for alot of my classic rock gigs...it gives the wah a more pronounced effect. RR ran his Distortion+ before his crybaby...that's how he got those cool wah sweeps in I Don't Know.

well, today i bought a tu2 after using a rack tuner for quite some time, thats why i'm asking. i wonder why i should use an a/b switch just for a tuner?! maybe i'm tone deaf, but i don't hear any sound degradation from the tu2

The TU-2 is true bypass, so you won't hear any difference. Some cheaper tuners that you leave in-line can be tonesuckers...

Actually, none of the Boss pedals are true bypass. They are buffered so as to not sucktone, but it is a slightly different process.

True, running the wah after the od/distortion gives a different effect, the same as running it in the effects loop. Personally, I don't really care for the sound of it that way, but it's all personal preference.

Basic order that I have used for years
Guitar
Tuner
Noise Gate
Wah
Phaser
OD/Distortion
Flanger
Chorus
Delay
Reverb
Amp

But with the BOSS NF-2 you can put the:
Wah
Phaser
OD/Distortion
Into an efx loop provided on the BOSS NF-2
Then you would have:
Guitar
Tuner
NF-2 and the EFX Loop: Wah>OD>Phaser
Amp
And then use the EFX Loop on your Amp for:
Flange
Chorus
Delay
Reverb

These days I use this configuration when not playing in stereo
