Sigs..did you play with an Uber longer than a few minutes at a time..and in those minutes did you ever MAX the gain / treble / bass..its the ONLY way I get MY tone...which is AWESOME!

[/ QUOTE ]

I played with it for about 2 hours, i dont think it is a bad amp, i just think it is one of the closes amps to the dual rec. Yes the tone is a little different, a bogner will always sound like a bogner where a mesa will always sound like a mesa, however i did find the uber to have a bit more charistics of a solid state distortion, meaning it was just not as organic to my ears.

If the bogner was cheaper in price or was alot more flexible i would probaly pick one up for my back line, however for the price they sell for i just cant seem to justify having one.

You know me bill, in your eyes i am more of a panzy ass that plays rock/punkish music/Indie, and when i do play metal i am more of a rythem player and we have different styles of metal, so your settings on the uber probaly wouldnt do me.

yeah Siggs..I never heard a recto before..really, what do they look like , or sound like..Nobody around here ever carries them or ever plays them...NEVER!

Guitar Center has no clue what I'm talking about..they never heard of the "rectos" before..

I can't waite to try one..

they must be RARE!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah but do you hate the tone of everyone that plays them? And i ment have you tried sitting down again with them, taking them through a V30 cabinet and see how you like them, great amps, very versitile.

But then again from how you describe your music sounds like you are more into the uber sounding bands, like i said to me they sound more solid statish to my ears.

Well Siggy, although I play metal, I don't cut mids, I generally boost them. Particularly, I just found the Legacy to be too sedate for me, not enough crunch or edge. Maybe if I was in a blues, or classic rock band it would work for me I guess.

Then again, I hate the MESA as well, they are too loose in the low end for me. Sucks, as I hear others sounding great, and I just can't get it myself. And I have played with the rectos a lot.

[/ QUOTE ]

Clevland i agree, the legacy is more of a 80's metal amp or rock amp, i dont think it would have much use in todays metal.

Bill i am gonna be the mature one here and say this, i am not gonna keep dragging everone in this forum into little fights, i come to this forum to gain knowledge, from you i dont gain anything except a growing pain in my ass.

I am not even gonna waste my time on responding to you anymore, it seems you cant even fight your own fights and feel the need to enlist people to rag on me. however if you keep doing personal attacks on me and asking other people to do personal attacks on me i will be contacting the admins and asking them to take action against you, i lost all respect for you and your actions just go to prove my opinion of you was right all along.

It seems you cant tell the difference between expressing an opinion and taking it to far.

I wouldn't consider the Legacy that we used "sedate". It would be great for blues and classic rock but it had more than enough gain for metal. The one thing about it that is glaring is that it isn't an aggressive sounding amp. That is probably why you and Bill don't like it. It didn't punch us in the face like many of the other amps in our shootout. It was smooth. Best way for me to describe it is.. it sounded like a really mellowed out Mark III. Great for soloing. Very controllable. Obviously, you and Bill are looking for more than a controllable smooth amp.
I have to admit though.. I am surprised everytime I read one of your Rectifier bashing posts. A Rectifier would be an amp I would think you both could tolerate. To me... they are as aggressive as all hell although I have never had the honor of tearing it up on an Ubershall or any other $4000.00 amp head so maybe I really don't know what aggressive really is. One day I will get the chance I hope.

I agree, and look who voiced it, a guy known for smooth soloing, the amp fits the man perfect. I wouldnt mind picking up one of these for my backline, and the price is usually right.

By the way guys, cavin does a weekley give away, if you win you get $250 to use towards equptment. I usually put my name in every monday. You can go hear for it.

Very cool comparison guys. At most of the ampfests I've been in, it's been more of a 'cork sniffer' thing going on. I like the idea of amps that are more easily attainable at these things.

Wish ya had a JSX there, I think it would have hung pretty well.

This thread is great for two reasons.

1) Nice amp shootout. It reminds me that I want both a Legacy and an Uberschall.

and...

2) It reminded me of one of my favorite Aerosmith tunes - "My Fist Your Face" - all together sing the third line of the song for Siggy.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
