We didnt crank the shit out of the amps in the med size clubs
But when we did the big places WOWWWWWWWWW
I had the Masters about 4 and the Pre Amps about 8
Like I've said It was thunderous [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

And I guess you know these amps take on a totally different sound
with 3 heads and 6 cabinets

Wow. TT Quick. That brings me back. lol. I did a few gigs at World Stage in NY with them. Same place that the Trixter video " One in a million" was shot. Boy do I feel lame now that I just wrote "Trixter" in a post. lol... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I think Tyketto was on the bill with the TT Quick gigs we played there with them too. That place was awesome. Now I think it is a gentlemens club...

Yep, we opened for TS for a full year. They were LOUD.

I did a gig with Dee back in '96 at Mothers in NJ. He was a lot of fun. His band at the time were great too. Mothers is now a Park and Ride.... All the good places are now something else... Condos... Parking lots.... Oh well.

We were a power trio and we used to open with "What You Don't Know and go right into "Under the Blade". The crowd would almost riot. They would chant Twisted and You Suck and throw shit at us. I got laid more times then I got into a fight though which was cool. Dee loved the fact that we would turn the crowd into a mob scene. He said it took big balls to do what we did. I didn't think so. We loved playing TS songs. Most of our other songs were originals with some kick ass metal covers mixed in. At one point we had a song on the radio that was higher in the rotation than Twisted Sister did. That was cool. It was only for a few weeks because we paid off the DJ with a brand new Savin Copy machine. I loved opening for TS because:
1. I hate the crowd so the boo'ing was really cool...
2. I loved banging hot chicks every night.
3. I was able to smoke Ojeda or French any day of the week no matter how high I was. They knew it. I knew it.

dude....thats not all that loud. last gig (small club gig) i had my marshall on top of one single 412 engl cab and iirc i set the master on 5, channel volume on 7, and gain at 9. this is the 100w version btw.
when playing open air through a fullstack i had it way louder than that...more like 6-7 on the master and 7-8 on the channel volume.

I would also think that opening for TS would be cool because you could be outta there BEFORE they played [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Sorry TS fans...but that was one band I could never find anything to like about them.

Too true. I just saw Metal Church and WASP back in July (along with LA Guns and Stephen Pearcy) and couldn't hear the solos at all. People were yelling at the soundman but nothing changed.
Poor guitar tones (no mids) could have been the problem, but I doubt it as the rhythms were coming across loud and clear.

Shawn, the commercial stuff TS did for the most part sucked. Their earlier EP material was really good. They sounded fantastic live. Walls of Marshalls all cranked. TS really gave me alot of inspiration back in the days. They were very tight and put on a great show. They are all big guys too so I am sure they could have backed up their kick ass attitude too. At the time we opened for them they had just hired a new drummer. He was EXCELLENT and he became good friends with our drummer. The fans thought we were a nationally touring band like they were. Of course we didn't dispute any thoughts they might have. The gigs were so crazy that one night I had a 1/2 nude chick behind my full stacks of Marshalls during our gig. I was wireless. I used to dive off the stage onto one of my roadies shoulders and he would carry me to the bar. I would do shots while I was soloing and I even ran across the bar a few times. I even went outside once at The Rising Sun when we opened for Anthrax and SOD. I sure do miss those days. Terribly.

The coolest thing about it is the fact that you don't need a fan onstage to keep you cool. Just stand in front of the speakers. I have been in front of many set ups that large but I was never playing. My biggest rig ever was 2 full stacks. Both a Hiwatt and Sound City 120w head and 4 red Marshall 1960 series cabinets. If I recall... I had them up around 4-5. It was loud too. The cabinets had JBL's in them and were heavy mutha's.

The sound did move air lol
As you know using 2 or 3 stacks besides being very loud
takes on some great tone dynamics
The whole guitar sound is just monsterous, very big

Fist time I setup all 3 Stacks back in 83
We used to practice in a Machine Shop back room
that one of the guys in the band, his dad owned.
We almost dropped dead, we had only seen photos of Jimi and Uli
with 3 stacks before that.
We thought we where in leauge with the big boys lol
Talk about a powerful feeling [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

We had all Marsall Amps
Had one of them 2 Channel Heads in there at times too
All Marshall 1960 and 1960a Cabinets
with either 25w Celestion or 35w Celestions
2nd generation Basket Weave Grilles
