• B52 AT 212 Ok so I bought one

Ok so last night my buddy andI finally got the chance to
try everything we wanted to. Here's my breakdown:
Went to daddys and tried a new 6150 Combo.
This is easily the LOUDEST f'n 60 Watt combo ever made.
Unfortunately also the noisiest. I like the sound out of
it and actually the rhythm channel cleaned up a lot better than I expected, but I couldn't get a good variety of
sounds out of it, a "one trick pony" so to speak but good at that one trick. If I had cash to burn I would get one just to have it.
Next up was the JSX 1/2 stack.
Much better than the combo, they need to close the back of the combo, this thing sounded really pretty good (it's a brand new one) I liked it a lot.
So back to GC to check out the B52's (the At all tube series) again, and this time we tried the head and the
combo thru a marshall 4X12 top, and we both ended up taking them home. I took the combo and my buddy took the head.
They sounded so close to the JSX it was scary. Nice clean, channel and the gain was right up there. Now neither I or my buddy play death metal or any NewMetal, it's basically 80's metal, some fusion (VH,Satch, Howe, Vai, Megadeath, Ratt, etc), and he plays in an original band as well.
This time we got to crank them up and they sounded right
there with the JSX.
Best part of the deal with my Line 6 trade in and my little marshall dsl201 (scored both very cheap) it costed me $100.00 out of pocket and I've got 30 days to decide whether it will cut it or not.
Great band for the buck
The combo sounds good as a combo (good for low volume late night practicing) and it sounds good cranked up, but plugged into a Marshall 4X12 cab these things really shine!
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

$100, eh? Good deal. The one I checked out at GC didn't like my JSX at all to me, but mine has had the tubes changed for 6L6s (I don't like the JSX w/EL34s, which is what they come with) and swapped the preamps out too for a variety of chinese and NOS.

Zeegler , what is happening with yours?
We tried these last night with an EVH B/W Charvel, and I'm
telling you, hooked up to the Marshall 4X12 we were getting a real good VHI, II sound out of these things.

tried the at212 at GC... sounded great, definately in my $$$ range. the only true question for me is... go with the combo or the half stack?

I'd say go with the combo and get a Marshall 1/2 stack. We
plugged both into the B52 1/2 stack and the Marshall 1/2 stack and the marshall definitely sounded better. The head and the combo plugged into the 1/2 stack both sounded exactly the same.
I'm thinking I might get a Marshall 2 X 12 extension cab
and run it out the combo as a 4 X 12, 2 Celestions and 2 Pro Audios(what ever they are).
should be interesting

Is B52 a Guitar Center brand. Do they have their own website?

Re: B52 AT 212 Ok so I bought one

To me NOTHING beats a four 12" cab..

I use a Marshall 1960b cab as a mandatory "standard".

Buts thats me..

I had combos..I liked some of them..when it came down to "jamming" I had to push the lil buggers way past their confort zone..when they start to sound noisey and just plain obnoxious..that's MY expereience with Combos..

Same here Bill, If I'm playing with a Band, it goes to a 4
X 12 top automatically, I've been talking to someone about
the 2 X 12 extension cab idea and I've decided against it..
I'm just going to grab a marshall top.
Jgcable B52 is B52 Pro audio. They've been araound for a long time, just getting into the Guitar amp market.
I talked to the guys in GC last night and they say they are marketing them like an affordable Triple Rec.

you gotta let me know what settings you are using, because mine sounds really harsh most of the time. When i set it up like I would any other amp, it sounds crappy.

There's a lot of beating going on in that room too... Hehe...
