Thanks guys for the great info. I have been out of town for a week and was glad to see these detailed responses when I got back.Now I have time to do some tube experimenting and luckily pre amp tubes are fairly reasonable at least compared to power tubes.I'm looking for something that will give me high gain, great distortion, sweet smooth sustain, musical tone that will bring out pinch harmonics better and NO NOISE !.... I'm afraid I'll have to give up on that last requirement tho .....can't have everything!
