Re: New VHT Deliverance...this is pretty sick tone

It had much more balls on it then the sample. I thought it was my computer. I am on a laptop so I assumed it was my computer. This amp at NAMM was one helluva tone monster. I have considered selling my SLO when it comes out and I get to check one out in person again. If it sounds as good as I remember, this amp will kill.

Re: New VHT Deliverance...this is pretty sick tone

I listen to the clip again. The amp at NAMM had tons of usable gain. 1. Either they redesigned the gain structure or 2. They don't have the gain or Volume up.

I am totally not into the nu-metal hi-gain amps. Diezel...Engl...Krank etc. To my ears they sound harsh or compressed or mushy or have not enough control etc. The VHT Deliverence had much more diversity in the one channel than some of the 2/3/4 channel amps I have heard. The demo head at namm had as much gain as the Pitbull they had there but the mid/bass/and treble controls were more subjective to subtle changes than the Pitbull series. I would think because it is a one channel amp there is no loss in clarity or definition due to cascading preamp that multi-channel heads have. Does that make sense?

Not a bit. Cascading preamp design is to get gain, not channels.
I guarantee you the Deliverance is cascading.

Hey Chris... do you think the sound sample that is online is intentionally dialed down? Why would a guy play blues stuff through a Les Paul? Obviously he had either the gain on the amp dialed down or the volume on the amp.
I don't know much about the amp but I do trust your ears.
How are they marketing it? Is the Deliverance name intended to reference blues?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think the guys intent was to record a clip for VHT (although it may have ended up there...) Thats just the way he plays. His bio says he was a metal head as a kid so Iknow he's got those chops...I'll guarantee just like most other VHT's this amp is capable of tearing heads off - with no pedals needed. The single channel thing doesnt bother me, nor does the lack of a loop. I've been playing dry for so long than anything in the chain sounds wierd to me, but I'm a confirmed amp slut and usually can't even wait tfor the things to warm up , let alone run effects

Either way - we need to get these in the hands of some of the rivet heads out there - a metal clip will surface sooner or later

Well... I played it at NAMM too and I thought it killed the Diezel in the neext booth and the any bogner that was there too.... For a one channel amp that is... The controls were very responsive. I guess if you like VHT's Pitbulls you will like this too. It had the Pitbull lead tone and crunch but was more defined. It ain't a nu metal tone amp. If you appreciate being able to hear all the notes in a chord ring out and a defined gain that does not mush everything together than I think this head is one you should look at. The VHT reps said that he thought it would be priced at around $1600... Lot of options out there for that kind of cash but my ears loved this head.

You are joking about the Les Paul comment, right? I mean...it is probably one of the three greatest blues guitars in existence, the other two being a Strat and a 335. A Les Paul has a smoking blues tone, especially when played with this type of amp tone.

Again, I think both the amp and the playing were smoking.
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I thought the tone and playing were both excellent.

I'm going to disagree with Tim and the majority here, imho there was nothing special about the clip.

no ENGL are lame ass metalcore/melo-deth/euro-metal amps.
nu-metal amps are Boogie recots and Diezels.
for fuzzy grindcore-bluegrass-opera Kranks are the best.

The Les Paul has never struck me as a very popular blues guitar. The majority of blues players either play semi hollows or strats.

Ya know, this clip isn't an offical clip from VHT, is it? It's just something that somebody on Harmony Central posted up.

Agreed to an extent there are plenty of Les Paul in blues but the Semi's and Strats rule the roost. If you get into blues rock you find a lot of Les Pauls though.
