Mesa Tubes
Using the Grooves Tubes scale for comparison:
Mesa Red = GT #4
Mesa Yellow = GT #4
Mesa Green = GT #5
Mesa Gray = GT #5
Mesa Blue = GT #6
Mesa White = GT #6
It appears that Mesa uses a finer scale to grade their tubes than GT, and this is how to fine tune the output section of Mesa amps. Need more power for clean headroom? Try a Mesa Blue or White. Want earlier breakup? Try a Mesa Yellow or Red. This leaves the Green and Gray as the "middle of the road"
