  • Effects processor suggestions:

    This is my rig:
    Carvin T100 power amp
    Soldano SP77 Purple
    31 band EQ
    rack mount power strip
    Heavy duty road case
Randall 2 x 12 cabs loaded with Celestions.

What other suggestions do you have BESIDES a G-Major.
I am kind of partial to the Intellifex units. Anything else I should be looking at?
Also, should I go with a parametric EQ or stick with the 31 band graphic?

Well if you're partial to an Intellifex, by all means get one, they are great! I picked up a XPression recently, which sounds a lot like the Intellifex. Not quite as tweakable, but then it adds things like phaser, tremolo, rotary simulation, and parametric EQ. It was really affordable too.

I'd say get a Pod XTLive. You're going to have to spend $100 or so on a footswitch, so take that off the cost of the pod and you're looking at $200. And it's a great backup in case of emergency.

I'd recommend a parametric over a 31 band if you know how to use one.

Definitely a parametric EQ, TC-1140 or the noisier Furman PQ-3. In comparison, graphics are a waste of space IMO

And why would you not want a G-Major, unless of course you were buying a G-Force. Haha...

I have an Intellifex, and although a great piece, the G-Major kills it...

Don't you already have a GT-6? Why not just stick with that?

As you're a boss guy, I suggest the SE-70. Dirt cheap, time tested. My guitar teacher swears by them and has several. He's messed with some newer units and keeps coming back to it.

I do have a GT-6 but I haven't had the best luck using it as an effects processor only. I will give it a shot when the Soldano arrives. Thanks for the suggestion. I can't believe I forgot that.

John - get a Boss VF-1. I used to have one and unloaded it once I got a GS-10 but now that I'm building a rack I bought another one off of Ebay this weekend. Go to Roland's web site and download the manual - it is VERY versatile.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

My guitar teacher has the vf-1 and the se-70 right next to each other in one of the racks in his studio, and says he likes the tone of the se-70 way more. ymmv.

I need it to have footswitchable patches like the G-major. The SPX90 I believe just has an on/bypass footswitch.
