I was seeing somewhere that the use of Armor All was not a good thing for your amps..in fact it was on Rocceforte's site. The petroleum based product actually will draw more dust to your amp making the tolex potentially look worse down the road.

I didn't mention the XXX because I figure it probably sounds too much like the 5150. I tried one out at a local store, and it sounded very much like my other guitarists 5150.

I'm on the lookout, and to be honest, I will probably end up with a Mesa Single Rectumfrier. I would love to get a Soldano, but I don't think they come up for sale on Ebay very often. We shall see.

My very favorite Marshall head ..A dual channel 100 wt JCM 800 lead series..the 2210.

I didn't need a stomp in front of it to get by with ..that is what Criss Oliva used in his latter years and was given to Chris Caffery..it has that "Edge of Thorns" tone big time..but you can always slam the front with a stomp to make it heavier...like a Metal Zone or something.

I had a Soldano HR100 and a MRK III..both great amps , the latter being heavier!!

But I love the definition / attack of a great Marshall!

AND it will be an investment..since all Marshall 800s are always going up in value.

If I had 800 or less to spend ..I'd get a 2210 Marshall.

Hey Bill, that's why I mentioned the 2205. I would rather have the 50 watter, so I could crank it. Marshalls always sound better when they're turned up louder.

the M100 kills. i've religously used mine since 1990. it's more important to me than ANY guitar. my sound is that amp....anyone who gets will be very pleased.

it's too bad your B52 is fucked up. Mine sounds killer (combo) I'm actually looking at grabbing a 5150 combo and running them is stereo (I think that will really piss off the neighbors [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img])
My friend is running the B-52 At 100 head in stereo with his rack mount Marshall set up and it kills. It's an amazing wall of sound even at low volume.
Have you emailed B-52? The VP emailed me back yesterday (on a Saturday even ,and sent me Schematics for the head and combo).
He seems to be genuinely interested in keeping owners happy.

I had a HR50. It was fine. Not spectacular. A friend let me checkout a Marshall 1987x he was selling. I put the HR50 on Ebay the next day. The funny thing is I would run a Soldano Supercharger in front of that Marshall and it kicked the crap out of the HR50. And for cleaner tones and medium crunch the Marshall is way better.

A HR50 cannot do any channel switching. I believe the HR50+ does. The HR50 doesn't sound good until it is over halfway up.

So my vote is to get a single channel no master volume Marshall and stick a Soldano SuperCharger in front of it for "channel switching".
