it's too bad your B52 is fucked up. Mine sounds killer (combo) I'm actually looking at grabbing a 5150 combo and running them is stereo (I think that will really piss off the neighbors )
My friend is running the B-52 At 100 head in stereo with his rack mount Marshall set up and it kills. It's an amazing wall of sound even at low volume.
Have you emailed B-52? The VP emailed me back yesterday (on a Saturday even ,and sent me Schematics for the head and combo).
He seems to be genuinely interested in keeping owners happy.

wow , so I threw a bid on a 5150 combo before I went out to dinner tonight and when I came home I had an email saying Congrats You are the winner.
F'n psyched!
$520.00

Zeegs I had a 2205 ans a 2210 sitting next to each other in my bedroom..each tweaked to the T.

That is a 2205/2210 Marshall has a diode in the preamp section for more distortion..No need to "Crank" them for your sound. The 2210 had MUCH more headroom and BALLS...so I got rid of the 2205 and bought another 2210..I ran both in stereo.

Pete , I MUST check out a JSX!!

My cuz is a Peavey dealer but he moved his store further away..I must hike it over there one day.

If you could score a VHT pittbull CL for that kind of dough that would be very nice..great amps..I love em!

Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Yes, a VHT CLX 100 head, it will strip paint off of your walls bro!! I had the combo, sold it, neaded the money. I would love to find the head version, it takes EL34`s, but throw some 6CA7`s in and get pretty close to the 6L6 tone. Make sure it has the built in Graphic EQ though. Jack.

You just blew right on through the $800 barrier, though.

Re: $800 high gain tube head??

So I tried out a Mesa single 50 today, and I was surprised, and a little disappointed. I was always under the impression that rectos had an assload of gain on tap, but it didn't. Don't get me wrong here, it sounded awesome, but it also sounded very similar to my Randall RGT100, but with LESS gain. (you heard me) That is not a bad thing though because I love the sound of my Randall. I didn't crank the Mesa at all, and I was using a shitty Les Paul through it, that was barely playable. I don't get how Gibson gets away with selling garbage like that for so much moolah, and people actually buy it. What a hunk of shit. But I digress. I was immediately impressed by the tone of the amp, and how easy it was to get a good sound out of it. I am seriously considering getting one, but I will be looking for a rectoverb. It will be a couple of weeks at least until I have the money, so I'm going to try as many other amps as I can in the meantime.

Rectoverb...HIGHLY recommended! My singer used to have a Single Recto. I could get a Dead Nuts SLO sound out of that thing...ask Toddstaples sometime...I totally fooled him with it one night.
Dipshit sold it...has a Laney now...queer.

If you cranked it on modern mode I'm willing to bet it would have more gain than you need. The louder it gets the better it sounds.

Chuck, What's the setting for the Recto/SLO sound? Just curious. Sounds like a fun trick to pull on people.

That was my old amp... I think a lot of why it sounded so good is because I had it loaded up with TungSol 5881s. REAL tungsols, not the recent stuff.

Cool! I love the Soldano sound, but I have been looking at a Mesa Single Rectifier as it is far more affordable. I just came across a great deal on a Recto preamp and 20/20 Mesa amp. It sounds great and the preamp stereo thing is certainly interesting....

Oh, hell...I have no idea what the settings were. Seems like everything was around the middle of their ranges.

Like Pete said, it had more to do with the Tung Sols in the output section than anything else.
