For lead no doubt. Actually you can set the tone/gain adjustments where ever you want and the SLO has about the same lead tone. The rhythm tone on the crunch channel is more pleasing was my point.

We must!
We must increase the bust!
The bigger the better!
The tighter the sweater!

Who knows i may end up hating it and selling it, lets see how it compares to my XTC.

[/ QUOTE ]

At one point I had an SLO and an XTC doing exactly what you're doing...then threw an Aiken Sabre in the mix.

I don't own any of them now But that only says I'm a complete total amp slut with serious gearitis issues. In fact I've got a " *********** " on the way

Of the two though - I liked the teeth the SLO had, but I loved how smooth the Bogner was...that thing (as you know) just sings...my SLO had the KT66's and all available mods in it too, including the toaster mod (runs it hot enough to toast bread on the back grill) ...

Congrats on the nice score !

so got the slo in and i am not so impressed. Give me some advice guys on ways to make it sound good. Maybe it just needs to be cranked, but right now it is too flubby in the bass department. Maybe it is just not for me give some help here please.

Cabinet selection is crucial. What are you using for cabs?

oh i have a nice selection, i have either greenbacks or v30's or 75s, i have tried the greens and v30's and wasnt impressed with either, but liked the greens better so far.

it has to be loud!

try taming down the presence. but if your not cranking it, you won't like it! a 100 watt tube amp has t be cranked to sound good - period, unless you're using a hot plate.

Re: chuck or anyone , slo advice

Here's my settings (if I remember):

Normal 9, crunch engaged, bright off
Overdrive 6
Bass 6
Middle 5
Treble 6
Masters 4 or better
Presence 4

You have to turn it up to get the goods, so to speak. Most folks agree that about 4 on the Masters is where it starts.
And I don't like the Depth mod.

Use the 75 watt speaker cab. Settings I like are.

Normal 6, crunch engaged, bright on.
Overdrive 4
Bass 4
Mid 3
Treble 5
Masters at 8 with the hotplate
Presence 1

Try the clean crunch with these settings and a clean boost pedal. With the pedal on you get a much better rhythm tone IMO.
