Re: ada mp1 vs. rocktron voodu valve vs. pod xt ra

lol Ohh yeahh the digitech can be dialed in very heavy with a good compression too.I normaly use 66 gain on it and i dont user the wildest overdrive settings either. You can use both solid state and the tubes together(sends both on left right chanels)if you want. The solid state settings are cool too with plenty of scooped fierce tones with KORN names..lol
Do yourself a favour and listen to Danny Danzi's (majichands)Dreamteam collab tune on that instrumental site-the site dreamteam thread will mention the players.Danny uses a digitech(now known as a dannytech)2101 with HEAVY overdrive!Chad coggin(KAIZEN)uses on too in that clip
The last chap to play on that tune is a PRO country player..lol..who remains nameless! But he plays that with a PRS and a POD!The pod rackmounts are good too
As far as i am aware 442 digitech achieved amazing results with the birth of the 2101.It is still favoured by many as the best unit as future units gained more CPU power but perhaps lost out on more organic overdrive tone?I noticed that with the Pod's-they sound(IMO)more digital as they get upgraded(my pod pro is original firmware)

Not to hijack, but what is the difference between the digitech GSP-21, 21 legend, 21 pro, 2101,2112, and 2120?

      [/ QUOTE ]

      GSP-21 - 21 effects to choose from.
GSP 21 Pro - Same thing with a bit of tweaking to make it sound better, and some "Professional" presets to get you started.
GSP 21 Legend - Artists were invited to set their own patches like Iommi, Dave Murray, Vai, Lukather, Morse, and a slew of others.

      2101 - Pro/Legend with a 12AX7 in the preamp to compete with the MP-1.

      2112 - 2101 with even more goodies.

2120 - Ultimate dual tube preamp/fx unit with tons of stuff piled into it using 2 S-DISC processors for seamless patch switching (the previous versions had horrible delay when switching patches), as well as an all new floor pedal control unit - the Control 1 - to compete with the ART X-15 pedal.

The RP-1 was the 21 Pro/Legend in an all-in-one floor unit.
The RP-10 was the 2101 in a floor unit.

The RP10 had an integrated rocker pedal that could be assigned to control anything - Volume, Delay time, Reverb depth, Chorus rate, individual EQ sliders, etc.

As for the MP-1 - I haven't been able to get both a great shimmery clean AND a nice crushing distortion out of it. I've got a nice clean that I can live with, but my Digitech 21 Legend has always gotten a far better clean IMO. I want clean that has absolutely no grit and the compression is not detectable. I can't get that from the MP-1 AND get a high volume.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

you wont regret it mate!Chad got me into the digitechs-i respect his opinion highly and he just loved playing and recording with it(he has loads of gear!)If you can score one with the control foorboard,it has two pedals like the x15 midi pedal(i have one of those shocking pink pedals too for my sgx2000)so you can use as volume pedal and wha

Yeah sorta, there's really only one chip that makes it different, and a 2120 version can be bought for $25 or so from da bay, replaced in a 2112 to get the features of a 2120.

the only thing I couldnt stand about the 21XX series was how damn tricky it was to make custom routing. But no doubt, that thing smoked. The way you could arrange your effects was "Teh Win". Too bad they discontinued the product line.
