i prefer my verticle recto 2x12 to its 4x12 brother. sounds just as good if not better.

I really like my vertical Jackson 2x12s for a nice stereo spread, but they mostly stay at home in my basement since each one is heavier than my compact Crate 4x12 which I prefer to take to jam sessions. And I've got a closed back, ported 1x12 for living room use that sounds incredible, too.

I bet that cab originally had a single grillcloth instead of the individual grills. Those grills with the piping looks kind of funny and I can't see the manufacturer doing that, nor the visible seam between the two speakers.

Rather than worry about finding the same make, which you will probably never be able to do, why not concentrate in matching constrruction, dimensions and speakers? You could probably build one yourself or find a local cabinetmaker to just build you a matching one. Or just fine one close enough and settle for that.

Eh.. I am thinking of caving in and buying a 4x12 behringer cab. For 280 dollars, it seems like a pretty good deal. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I've got no experience with Behringer, but I did buy this Crate last year. It's a very nice, lightweight cab, speakers sound pretty good, metal speaker grille, and it's made in the USA. I got mine for $50 less when they were on sale.

4x12 are cool when you have a tech [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
I also found that when you play relatively close to 4x12 (at home or in tiny rehersal room) you get a lot of phase effects, because the sound travel different way from each speaker to your ear. 1 ft. difference = 1ms of delay. You move a bit - and the highs are cut down. Move a bit more - and you get too much highs... So my vote goes for 1x12 combo with occasional extra 1x12 closeback cab
