Thank you Michael Soldano. I certainly appreciate it.

All my rack cables have been upgraded to high end Belden cable and Neutrik connectors. I tried to eliminate any weak spot in my system. The only upgrade down the road will be switching the T100 to a Mesa 50/50 or a small VHT.

Every once and a while the soldano 100r power amp shows up on ebay... One just past just weeks ago. That would be the utimate power amp. They aren't cheap though...

Is it true that only 44 SLO100R's were ever made?? If thats true... I can say I know a guy who owns 2 of them. Chris, you have 2 right?

BTW... what are the differences between a SLO and a SP77?
I never played out of an SLO or even heard one up close in person.

Forget the Soldano products. They are a given. Soldano customer service deserves the most appreciation. You actually talk to someone that knows what they are talking about and has no problem giving you all the answers. Even sometimes Mike Soldano himself. That's what I appreciate most.

Anyone have a schematic for a hot mod or have pics of one taken apart?

Re: Soldano appreciation thread

Actually John. I just sold the Purple SLO rack head to my brother. I had no use for two. Still in the family though. The SP77 preamp I had I ran with the Carvin T100 that I sold you. Isnt that funny. So... I know kinda what your sound is like in my head anyway... But you retubed and all so that is going to make it sound much better. Anyway. I did not own the T100 and the SP77 at the same time as the SLO. But from memmory. THe SP77/Carvint100 setup had the same gain as the SLO. The big difference is at high volume levels. The SLO is pure clarity. The Sp77 setup sounded better at lower volumes but The SLO has much more singing mids and highs than the SP77/T100 setup. Add Kt66's in there and you have a really tight bass response in there too. It is the perfect amp for me. I doubt I will ever not have one.

Add in the Customer service ...( Mike left a message on my machine the other day... How fucking cool is that that the owner of a company calls you back) Plain and simple - Soldano's Rock.

Mike rocks! I called him a while back on the Yamaha T-series and he was more than happy to give my the scoop on them. I ended up selling the T100 for a Hot Rod 50+ however. Other companies could take a lesson in CS from Soldano!!!

On a quick side note. Have any of the SLO owner pulled 2 tubes and lowered the impedence for the 50w SLO. Just curious how it sounded.

Re. Customer service . I have been having a problem with email replies from Soldano . The last 3 have never got an answer .
It was just technical questions etc. , so I am disappointed at that .
On the positive side , the gear is top notch and has never let me down .

I have a HR50+ and it's a great amp.

Mark: I contacted Soldano Customer Service a couple of weeks ago and got a reply within a couple of days, so maybe you're just unlucky?!

Re: Soldano appreciation thread

I've had great service from Soldano. They gave me the scoop on the Hot-Mod in detail. I thought it was pretty dam cool that they responded to a discontinued product I bought off eBay I got from Bill Sundt, Michael forwarded my email inquire to Bill. I've also got info on my Soldano 4x12 when I was asking what type of speakers were in it (since its front-loader, I didn't want to remove them to see what they were Bill told what to look for visually, turns out its V30's...oh yeah...that 4x12 cab was another used off of eBay item and they still replied.

VHT is another company that has given me great service as well and yes, I got tech info for my 50CL from Steve....the owner of the company Again more than enough info provided for an amp head I bought used off of eBay and they still treated me like I jus bought a brand new amp.

I called Soldano regarding a new Astroverb I had. I spoke to Bill too regarding installing an effects loop in it. He was very helpful. I am going to get an SLO after the holidays as a present to myself for being such a great guy unless of course a Matchess Spitfire comes my way.

I ran my purple one with KT66's as a 50 watt head. It sound the same but with earlier tube break up. YOu still have to crank it up to at least 4 to get it sounding like an SLO.
