Hi guys, well I was playing my Peavey Ultra 1x12 combo and this is the first time it just shut off and won`t come back on. Question, does anyone know where the Fuse and/or Fuses are on this thing? Never had to change one, this is the first issue with it. I hope it is just that Thanks-Jack.

Re: Peavey Ultra Combo-Fuse?
Why the hell would they do that Ny VHT had 2 fuses that you just dropped into holes easily accessable. Peavey must be retarted, why would they bury them? I don`t even know where to start with this for a simple fuse? What a dumb design!! Thanks man-Jack.

Re: Peavey Ultra Combo-Fuse?
Peavey usually has one fuse on the back and several more fuses inside. Using several fuses protects each individual circuit so less damage is done in case of melt down!
Chances are you have a shorted power tube that caused a fuse to blow.

Re: Peavey Ultra Combo-Fuse?
OK, my power tubes are only a few months old, and are the high gain JJ 6L6`s. First I have to find what fuse is bad, then I have to figure out if a power tube is bad, ah man. The PCB Board looks very difficult to remove, many screws and things blocking it, definitely not a good design as far as where the fuses are. Jack.

Re: Peavey Ultra Combo-Fuse?
Even brand new tubes can fail. I haven't worked on a combo in a while but there should just be 4 screws in the top that hold the chassis in.

It looks to me that the fuse is internal. It must be on the board. Be careful taking it apart. Tube amps are very dangerous inside. There must be a PC mounted fuse holder on the main board.

Very true; maybe you should go to www.peavey.com and find the nearest authorized Peavey Service Center and have them check it out. You could make it worse or even electrocute yourself if you don't know how to remove the chassis and handle it.
Also, bear in mind you've had the amp and liked it for a good long time. This kind of thing is one reason Peavey amps are cheaper than others and still sound good. Pulling the chassis is not as big a deal as it seems but it is still a major issue if you are not tech-oriented.
Good luck and I hope it's nothing serious.Ron is the MAN!!!!

Re: Peavey Ultra Combo-Fuse?
I just want to thank you guys for all of your help!! I pulled the chassis and it was very easy. I pulled it out far enough to change the tube. It was the main 3A tube, it also has (2) 1A tubes as they were fine. I didn`t have any 3A tubes on tap, so I threw a 4A in there, will I kill my amp? I will pick up a pack of 3A tubes pronto though. Thanks-Jack.
