  • Guitar amp into bass cab?

I've been keeping my eyes open for a nice compact cab for my rack rig, and thought I'd found it today. A local shop had a 4x10 cab for $150 that by all appearances was a guitar cab. They had taken it used and not even marked it yet.

Turns out it is a Fender 410 Wedge bass cab rated at 8 ohms. Is there any harm in running a guitar amp into this? I wouldn't normally bother, but it's worth asking...

Can't harm anything as long as impedances are in line. Might not sound so great, but you never know.

No harm at all but you must follow all the impedence rules. I used to use a Hartke 4x10 with the aluminum coned speakers for certain clean tones on recoedings and they sounded awesome (a little secret that I have never shared anywhere before). Aside from that limited use, they sounded like ass, as I would suspect most bass cabs would.
