  • Peavey 6505 or 6505+

I am not worried about a good clean, so between the 2 of these choices, which would you guys choose and why? Tone differences? I want it for high gain speed metal and old Metallica and the like. Is this a tight sounding anp, with alot of crunch? I am not use to Non-Master Volume amps, and a little worried, does the MV knob make a huge difference? I can`t always crank this amp, do they sound good at low and moderate levels? I have heard the 6505 has a touch more gain than the 6505+ and the 6505 has more low end also? Supposively the + just has better clean? If the JSX can do what the 6505 can do and more, would I be better served to get the JSX? Thanks-Jack.

I'm planning on getting a 5150 II and having the lead channel modded back to 5150 specs so I'll have the 5150 tone and the 5150 II features.

If you don't care about the clean I'd say go for the 5150/6505 based on the stuff you're looking to play. The 5150II/6505+ is a great amp too. It's more versitile. if you need that. The 5150II/6505+ overall is brighter and has a little less gain.
