  • Boss NF-1 Noise Gate

Is this a good noisegate? They are pretty cheap used, and I am looking for a good noisegate that will not dull the tone at all. I have played some noisegate pedals that seem to cut out some of the ballsiness of your tone. Can anyone tell me if this is one of them?

    Thanks,

Tons of players use them with no problems.

I have a hush that works great but, it started making a noise that picks my ass.

I had someone check it out but its just a bad one.

I have been reading a lot of great things about the Decimator by ISP, who are the originators of the Hush. They are about $120 new though.

I like the NS-2 better. I use that in my live setup. Good filtering and, with the right settings, no impact on tone.

I run a multi-effect unit plugged straight into the amp, and then an EQ and the NS-2 through the amp's effects loop. Sounds great to me, and I always got compliments, too.

What's the big difference in the NF-1 and NS-2?

I like the Boss NS-2, but I like the MXR Smart Gate better.

I use the ISP Decimator pedal with my 5150 combo it works perfectly!
Doesn't alter my tone at all.

If I didn't have my NS2, I'd buy an NF1. It's a good pedal. IMHO I like the NS2 better, however, the NF1 is great, and does the job very very well.

Whats good in a rack mount, that won't kill sound/tone??
