• Mixing Active pickups with Passive pickups

I am planning on buying an active humbucker for my guitar. A friend told me it was not wise to mix Active pickups with Passive pickups because of volume problems and some other sorts of problems. I wanted to know what exactly are the problems involving the mixture of the two kinds off pickups and if they were realy THAT MUCH of a problem to deal with.

    Thanks

yes it is a problem. don't do it.

but if your going to - you must use the emg PA-2 (http://www.emgpickups.com/displaypro...&catalogid=135)

this will match the impedence so the passive will work properly and also give it a volume control on the back of the pA-2 to match the volume between the 2 pickups.

but bare in mind, the passive pickup will never sound as good as it was ment to when mixed in this fasion.

it is a far better preactice to keep that shit seggregated.
