I usually just use it as a clean boost but I've been playing around with using it for some of the gain the past few days. When I roll the amp gain back to around 11:30-12:00 and set the pedal level at 2:00 and gain at around 7:30...HOLY SHIT! It sounds incredible. And the best thing about is it didn't thin out the sound or steal any low end at all...just smooth, heavy, and tight. I can't wait to try it with my Maxon when it gets here.

I'm in tone heaven.....for now anyway.

    Sounds cool. Got any clips?

Do you know the guys in S/E? My old band toured with them a bit. Mikey's a cool guy.

Nah, no recording gear. I think I'm going to spring for some cheap stuff soon and do some ghetto recording.

I was never much of a fan of the band. The music is decent but I can't take the vocals.

Aye. Such is the case with a lot of hardcore bands. Good live show though!

Try it out with a real Tubescreamer, like a Maxon OD808. It'll sound THAT much better!

I've used a TS and an SD-1 in front of a Dual Rectifier, and I think it's the best thing in the world for them. IMHO, Rectos have a Dryness to them, and a boost makes them about 300% better for leads.

iused to use a zw-od with my single and triple rect, i loved it with the pedal and hated them without the pedal.

Sounds like an awesome combination. Congratz on finding killer tone. It's not that easy!!

                    Re: Dual Recto + MXR ZW44-OD = ...............

Well, the OD-9 showed up at my door on Christmas eve. Initially I still liked the MXR better but after spending last night and this afternoon tweaking and a/b'ing them the Maxon definitely wins out. The Maxon is smoother and adds little to no fuzz at lower gain settings which is exactly what I want. Although it does start fuzzing pretty bad at higher settings but that's not what I use it for so it doesn't really matter. The MXR has a rougher edge to it which can be a good thing but that's not what I needed and it adds some fuzz to the sound. They're both great pedals and I'd be happy to use either but given the choice I'll take the Maxon with my dual rec.

Might want to try a bad monkey too... I'm really digging mine.

I was thinking about trying that one. Hell, for $35 how can you go wrong.

Ain't the midrange on the Maxon sweet as hell, too?

Also, did this recto replace the JSX, or are you still looking to trade it?

Yes it is. I believe that's what makes it sound tighter.

I traded the JSX for a 5150II+cash a while back.
