  • ENGL Fireball

hey guys. I'm thinking of buying a Fireball now, after hearing some great clean and distorted clips. I know some of you here like these, so my question is. How good is it's lead sound? as it doesn't have two dirty channels, is it hard for you to be heard live when playing solos? or do you add something to make your solos come through more, rather than having a switchable master volume like on the JCM900.

i don't know about the lead sound, but it has two footswitchable master volumes, so boosting the volume for leads is very easy. i love that feature! although using a tubescreamer for leads wouldn't be all that bad, either. the amp has enough gain for anything, believe me, but i'm sure some players want their leads to have more gain than the rhythms, something the fireball can't do without outboard processing. but as i said above, don't worry about the solo volume.

The lead sound is pretty good, the footswitchable master volumes come in very handy here.

However I have now hooked up my Boss GT-5 to the Fireball with the 4-cable method, so I can use the amps distortion with the effects and equalizing abilities of the GT-5.
          Works great, I'm very happy!
