• Splawn Quick Rod (New Version)

I'm thinking about grabbing one of the new Splawn Quick Rod heads with independent channels & EQ

Anyone out there using one of the new versions? Feedback would be cool!

What I meant by the new version is the independent eq and different Trannys. I'm not sure how long it's been out but I would say no more than 6 months.

      Does your friend like his?

if they are any better or improved than the old versions then I'm sure it smokes. I love my QR (older one, merc xformer, shared EQ)

Shawn, I regret selling my Quick Rod last year. I have to get another.

Cool then you know what they can do then The shared EQ isn't a deal breaker for me and I didn't get a QR for its clean, although it is really usable.

Yes, I have played thru one then. This is the one my friend owns (or the 2nd one made like it):

Very good sounding head but, absolutely NOT for bedrooms. I did not like it thru the Splawn cab alone. To me that cab has NO bass. Sounded better thru an old Marshall cab with greenies or better yet with both cabs together (as the old Marshall didn't have much in the way of high end). That's not a head issue though. Really thick and juicy versatile gain channel. It would be even more cool if you could change the gears via footswitch as well. Clean is just okay. Nothing to write home about. I am not a Marshall amp voicing type of guy but, this amp impressed me. Better than a Stiletto in my opinion by far. No pedals needed to boost the front end either.
