Yes, buy it and sell it to Donny next month..

I played the original Vetta in a store..sounded cool in a store..

You really must get that bastid up close and personal..and loud to see what it can do and what it lacks.

It's just a matter of time they really do NAIL this whole modeling thing..I assume that it'll be pretty hard to tell in a true A/B side by side comparison in the near future..they are getting better.

It would cool if you can get an abundance of different amp tones at your fingertips..not yet..not bad..but not yet IMO.

Bill, a Vetta in the right hands is pretty deadly. I have over 30 years of metalness and I ain't shittin you.
You can't go by what they sound like in the store. Those are fucked with too much. Even you would be impressed by the tone of a properly tweaked and set up Vetta HD.

Vetta's are great, but still They lose that 1% to the real thing. Vetta's can do a tone 99% to it's true form but if you want a JCM800 Sound, only a JCM800 will do

+1. The other guitarist in my NJ band feels that exact same way. He doesn't care about modeling or multi-guitar tones. All he needs is straight up JCM800 and an acoustic simulator routed to the board through an A/B switch.
He demo'd tons of amps. He has the money to buy anything he wants. He chose a Marshall JCM2000 DSL head and he plays it through his mid 80's Marshall 1960A with Vin 30's in it. It sounds really good.

Re: should i sell my jcm800 for a vetta?

I recommend looking at VodooAmps.com in New York the Modify the JCM 800, there Modification is awesome and the amp sound like a complete new head. The distortion is really good, However the Vetta is also a good deal because for 600-800 you can pick up a good head with all the effects built in. If you play live a lot , I would buy 2 vettas, because if your whole set up, is built around with the integrated effects of the vetta and this amp would fail, You are toast.. You can always have a vetta clone ready for action...One of the other Guitar Player that I play with has the Vetta, I love it for Home use and recording, Especially the dual head feature.I was able to dial in some brutal tones... but I would never sell a jcm 800 to replace it with that head....I would get a Bogner Xtacy Classic in a Flash if I had the extra bread flying around tho! True to form 99%? Hahaha... Not...

If you like the Vetta, that is fine, but it certainly isn't a solution to replacing any tube amps feel in any way. They may sound ok, but are missing a lot in comparision.

John, have you ever heard a dialed in Vetta live and loud? Just curious. I assume you have. 99% accurate is rather high I would say but many of the models are VERY close. I have always felt that the straight up JCM800 tone is the hardest one for a modeler to copy. Most of them seem to do a great job at almost everything else. Especially Rectifier and Fender tones. The Vetta does a nice job at many of the Marshalls. Major, JTM45, Plexi, Silver Jubilee all sound really good. The Vetta does lack the presence on their model of the 2203/2204 though. You have to stack another amp under it. I use a Plexi to give the model more body.
I am using my Vetta with a stereo spread set up and 2 2 x 12 cabinets at our gig this Saturday. Jim (Sambencuda) is also using his Vetta combo I believe. I will give a review.
If Jim decides to use his Mesa Boogie Stiletto I will bring my Soldano but I really want to try the Vetta out live.

John, yes I have, and and have heard some of the best guitarists like Michael Romeo using them, and I'm still unconvinced (and so is Michaels band, haha).

Basically, I can own whatever I like and don't own one.

I wish my ears didn't hear what i hear when i listen to one. My back and my pocketbook would thank me. I'll figure that "most" people don't "hear it" and think they are just dandy, but then again, many of them think Crates sound good.

They're cool, but, far from doing what a quality tube amp does for me.

The last 3 gigs I used my Soldano and I was smiling all night long. Its the best tone I ever got. EVER. Its an amazing rig.
I am interested in trying out the Vetta live because now I have a benchmark to judge it with.
It will be interesting to see what happens. I love the feel of the Soldano. Hopefully, I will love the feel of the Vetta too. If not, it will be religated to home, recording and band practice use.
If I had to take a guess I would say the Soldano is going to blow away the Vetta live. We will see.

Re: should i sell my jcm800 for a vetta?

Sorry to all you Vetta detractors but I can't see how anyone would say you're missing anything with the Vetta. All this 1% stuff is a bunch of nonsense. Playing guitar is not about 1% here or there. It's about 110% all the fucking time (don't ask me what I'm talking about here, I'm practicing to be a middle manager some day).

And the Vetta does that and more.

The Vetta sounds fucking kickass.

Like any amp, the Vetta can sound like canned ass. I've heard JCM800's sound like canned ass. It's all about the nut behind the wheel.

I have yet to sit down with someone that couldn't be satisified with a Vetta once they sat down and took it seriously. It's really easy to go spin through the hacked up presets at Gutter Center or Sam Ass and say the Vetta sucks - that's not giving it a reasonable shot at all though.

Here's how you can make a Vetta sound great in the store. You have to fucking think about what you are doing. When you demo the Vetta, demo it like you would any amp. So that means that you first have to turn everything off!!!! Turn off the delay, reverb, compressor, dual-amps, yada, yada, etc. etc. You wouldn't demo a JCM800 by first plugging in a digital delay, analog chorus, MXR compressor, noise gate and running it in parallel with a triple rectifier. Would you? Ok, maybe some dumbass out there would but let's forget about him for the moment. So now that you've turned everything off, start turning the amp knobs, changing cabinets, changing EQ, etc. The Vetta is very simple to use in this mode and is very responsive and interactive just like any other amp. Seriously, don't even fuck around with the effects at all in the store - the effects are great, really great.

Also, please note that my Vetta is for sale for a screaming deal in the classifieds.

PS - in case you are wondering why, it's because I'm getting a PODxt Pro for my rack instead - while it's not the Vetta it is better suited for the hippie rack from heck.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
