is a 50w head enough to drive 2 cabs

I sold my 5150 and I'm considering a 50w JCM 800

will that wattage be enough to drive 2 4x12 cabs and sound good?

Wrong area of the board, but yeah, you can drive 2 4x12s with a 50 watt head no problem.

With speakers it's not so much wattage that you're looking at, it's ohmage. Check to make sure that the ohms rating on the speakers isn't sucking too much power from your amp. How you have the speakers hooked up also affects ohmage.

Be concerned about watts when it comes to not blowing out your speakers. Don't plug a 100W head into cabs that can only handle 50W.

Be concerned about ohms when it comes to not blowing up your amp. Your speakers actually make your amp work. Also, remember less is more here-not like wattage. 2 ohms is actually sucking more power from your amp than 4 ohms is.

should work just fine....those old marshalls are loud amps for sure...

Yes it'll usally be fine. Are the cab 16/8/4 ohms? 2x16ohms= 8 ohms,2x8ohms= 4ohms or2x4ohms =2 ohms the last one is the only one you should'nt use both cabs. You'll have a ohm switch on the back of the amp set it to the proper omh setting.
